New patient office visit including EKG and physical examination
Follow-up visit to discuss results of examinations, evaluate therapeutic response to medications and discuss further treatment plan.
Visit to discuss conditions that may not require in person physical examination or testing. We typically cannot complete new patient evaluations via televisit as physical examination is an essential component of the assessment.
Patients who require cardiac clearance for surgery can have consultation, limited echocardiogram, EKG and stress testing performed by our physician. This will alleviate the need for multiple visits and avoid delays to planned surgeries. Please note, due to the complex nature of the testing, if you need a nuclear stress test, it will have to be scheduled at a different time.
An electrocardiogram, or EKG/ECG for short, is a snapshot of your heart's activity. Imagine it as 12 little cameras that take pictures of your heart's rhythm and electrical signals. It's painless and easy – you will have some sticky patches with wires attached to your chest which record the beats of your heart. Among other things, we use this information to determine if there are any arrhythmias or damage that may have occurred to your heart.
An echocardiogram is an ultrasound imaging of your heart. It's a painless and non-invasive procedure where sound waves are used to create images of your heart's structure. You'll lie down while a technician moves a wand over your chest which will create detailed images of the movement of the heart muscle and function of the valves on the screen. We used this study to identify inflammation or damage to the heart muscle or leakiness or blockage in the valves among other things.
Exercise stress test, is a non invasive test to evaluate the cardiac function with increased physical demand. Similar to EKG, you will have sticky patches with wires attached to your chest. You'll start by walking slowly on the treadmill. Every 3 minutes, the speed and incline of the treadmill will increase, making it more challenging. We will monitor for any arrhythmias or findings suggestive of heart abnormalities.
Similar to exercise stress test, stress echocardiogram is a non invasive test to evaluate the cardiac function with increased physical demand. In addition to EKG monitoring during exercise, at the peak of exercise, ultrasound images of the heart are generated to assess for any functional abnormalities. This is a test to assess for blockages in the blood vessels of the heart or functional valve defects.
Also known as myocardial perfusion imaging, nuclear stress test is a specialized way of looking at the blood flow in the blood vessels of the heart. This test can be performed in conjunction with exercise stress test or using an injectable medicine that mimics exercise. It is a very safe and effective way of identifying blockages.
This is a painless, non invasive ultrasound imaging of the blood vessels that carry the blood to the brain. A technician will move a wand over both sides of your neck and create images of the vessels and the blood flow. Using this test we can identify plaque build up or abnormalities with the blood flow which will help us determine future risk of stroke and devise the most effective treatment plan.
This is a very useful test in identifying the cause of palpitations, dizziness or passing out. During your visit, a comfortable, patch type rhythm monitor will be applied to your chest. You will wear this monitor continuously for a duration of time determined by your provider. Monitor will record all your heart beats and a report will be generated identifying any rhythm abnormalities.
An Ankle Brachial Index, or ABI for short is a non invasive way of evaluating the blood flow to the extremities. This screening tool is used to identify blockages in the blood flow to the arms or legs.
An ultrasound based evaluation of the blood flow to the extremities and organs, arterial duplex is used when there is concern with the blood supply to a target organ. This non invasive, painless test can help us tailor invasive and non invasive treatment plans.
An ultrasound based evaluation of the blood flow from extremities and organs back to the heart. This test is used to identify blood clots in the veins of the extremities. It can also be used to identify venous insufficiency and help determine best treatment approach.
Dr. Vefali is a board certified endovascular specialist and we perform in office venous ablation and varicose and spider vein treatments. Vascular disease is highly complex and variable in the extent of treatment necessary to effectively alleviate pain and symptoms. Please inquire with your provider regarding available therapies and pricing.
Specialized rhythm monitoring device can be implanted under the skin to detect arrhythmias in the evaluation of passing out, unexplained stroke or palpitations. This entails a minimally invasive procedure to inject the device under the skin near the chest. Local anesthetic will be applied to minimize discomfort. Recovery is quick and you can usually return to regular activity the same day or the next with skin healing expected in 7-10 days.
At the discretion of the clinic manager, immediate cash pay discounts may apply. Please inquire with front desk. Applicable taxes and credit card fee will be applied.
