Interventional Cardiology
Austin Cardiovascular Clinic provides interventional cardiology, including cardiac catheterization, angioplasty, and stent placement performed in a hospital setting.
What it is
Interventional cardiology uses thin, flexible tubes called catheters, guided through blood vessels, to look at and treat narrowed or blocked arteries without open surgery.
Procedures are performed at partner hospitals. Your physician discusses whether a procedure is appropriate, along with its benefits and risks, before any decision is made.
Why a patient may be evaluated
- Abnormal stress test or imaging results
- Symptoms that may be related to narrowed arteries
- Follow-up after a prior heart or vascular procedure
How we evaluate
Evaluation starts with an office consultation and testing. Whether a procedure is recommended depends on your individual findings.
