Heart Failure Management

Austin Cardiovascular Clinic provides personalized heart failure management, including evaluation, monitoring, and ongoing follow-up care.

What it is

Heart failure means the heart is not pumping or filling as well as the body needs. It does not mean the heart has stopped.

Management is usually ongoing and may include medications, lifestyle guidance, monitoring, and regular follow-up visits planned with your care team.

Why a patient may be evaluated

  • Shortness of breath, especially with activity or lying flat
  • Swelling in the legs, ankles, or abdomen
  • Unusual tiredness or sudden weight gain

How we evaluate

Evaluation may include a physical exam, an EKG, and an echocardiogram to see how the heart is pumping. These symptoms can have many causes. A cardiovascular evaluation can help determine the underlying issue.
