Vascular Care

Austin Cardiovascular Clinic provides vascular care: evaluation, ultrasound imaging, and treatment planning for peripheral artery disease and venous disease.

What it is

Vascular care looks at the blood vessels outside the heart, most often in the legs. Arteries carry blood away from the heart and veins return it.

Patients often describe leg pain while walking, poor circulation in the legs, leg swelling, or visible veins. Ultrasound can show how blood is flowing.

Why a patient may be evaluated

  • Leg pain or cramping when walking that eases with rest
  • Leg swelling, heaviness, or visible veins
  • Wounds on the legs or feet that are slow to heal

How we evaluate

Evaluation may include an ankle brachial index (ABI) and arterial or venous duplex ultrasound. These symptoms can have many causes. A cardiovascular evaluation can help determine the underlying issue.
